Thanksgiving is such a wonderful time of year: the gatherings, the feasting, the thankfulness. BB - Give Thanks

How could we have a Thanksgiving app list without a Berenstain Bears app? This interactive storybook app tells the story of Papa, sister and brother delivering some furniture to Farmer Ben who makes payment in the form of a turkey. The intention is to serve the turkey up for Thanksgiving dinner, but sister becomes quite attached to Squanto the turkey. A good app to launch into discussions about where our food comes from, being thankful, dealing with loss, helping others and of course, the Thanksgiving tradition. With 36 unique illustrations, this is quite a long story and could be made into two separate books.

Tufties Good Manners Free

This app is a work in progress and has the first of three manners stories available now, with two more to come in the future. I always say: "Thank you" is a story to remind children that we need to be grateful and say thanks. Little Binger has a little trouble carrying all of his toys to his room, when the inevitable happens and one drops on the floor. His hands are full and he is unable to retrieve it, so his mother picked it up and passed it to him. Such a simple story, but sometimes this kind of presentation is exactly what our kids need to be reminded of using their manners (it is much better than nagging them anyway!)

Free Birds: Baby Turkey Trouble

Two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks must put aside their differences and team up to travel back in time to change the course of history - and get turkey off the holiday menu for good.

Baby Turkey Trouble is a match-three type of game (think Bejewelled Blitz) that releases baby turkeys upon matching. Each level has a set points goal to be obtained in a set number of moves. The app includes a trailer for the movie, so be warned; you may be begged for a cinema visit before too long!

StarFall Turkey

In true StarFall style, this app is presented as a handful of games with high educational value. Decorate the turkey, choose a joke, complete a puzzle, identify if a picture is symmetric, identify which turkey is a favorite.Th tap-to-read feature of this app helps children learn to read as they make a physical connection of the word they tap with the word they hear. Just a bit of fun, although not so much about the Thanksgiving feast, your kids will love StarFall Turkey.

Hand Turkey

Let's dress the turkey! Begin by placing a hand on the screen to make a hand turkey, then decorate by choosing a head, body and tail feathers. Once the turkey is done, it needs a name. Choose from preset names such as Ebenezer McGobble or type in your own. Now all that's left is to view the decorated turkeys in the gallery. Oh, sorry. It's not a gallery, it's a stampede. Watch out!

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

These Peanuts book apps are so precious! I just love how the original illustrations have been animated and made interactive. To top it off, this particular story is narrated by Stephen Shea who was the voice of Linus in the Peanuts cartoons.

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving tells the story of Charlie and his friends as they prepare for the holiday celebrations. It all begins with Peppermint Patty inviting herself over to Charlie's house for Thanksgiving Dinner, but quickly gets out of hand as she continues inviting more and more people.
