If you are looking for this app under Disney on the Google Play store, you will not find it. It is a Disney app, however, just listed under LucasArts. Have you noticed how popular 8-bit games are at the moment? This recent offering is sure to be a hit with your older child. Tiny Death Star is an empire building app with the cutest figures and accompanying Star Wars themed background music (can be switched off). A definite must-have for the Star Wars fanatic in your house!

The player is given missions, such as to build 1 service, which are then rewarded with imperial bux. Bux are used to purchase items such as elevators, bitizens (the characters in the app), levels and VIPs. Fairly straight forward, with lots of written support (explanation of steps to take, current mission goals etc.).
Empire building games are great for older kids as they consolidate their learning of early literacy and numeracy skills. They learn budgeting, prioritizing, goal setting, project management and patience, to name a few. Tiny Death Star will not cost you anything so you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by downloading this app. Just be sure to Disable in-app purchases on the Google Play store.
