Another free Disney app! This time the dwarves are missing and the player must go on an adventure to find them all. Along the way, the player is required to complete quests, completion of which is rewarded with points that eventually progress the player to the next level. Some actions can only be performed at certain levels, and others require waiting specified times. Key words to the success of this app are: mine, craft, build.

There is a lot of reading in this app, akin to the adventure quest type games of old, so it will be more suitable for fluent readers, or with younger kids who are sharing screen time with an adult. The instructions are very clear and there are big arrows to help point players in the right direction. Quests involve actions such as mine some metal, craft a lamp, build a forge. All with the end goal of finding all the dwarves and restoring the forest to order.
To mine elements, a dwarf is sent into the red mine, where he smashes a selection of rocks to try his luck at finding needed elements. It is a game of luck as under one of the rocks there will be the wicked Queen's face, meaning the mining session is over and the dwarf has to wait out a set time before he can enter again. If he happens to mine all of the rocks bar one (meaning the Queen is under the last one), he is declared the winner but still has to wait out the set time before being able to mine again.
A great app for middle elementary children who need practice following instructions, working towards goals, patience and decision making. How all this can be free is beyond me!
