Squeebles Spelling is going to have a run for its money with this app I just found! Spelling Monster is a great spelling app for lots of reasons: good quality graphics and audio, customizability (adding your own words, choosing speed), fun games, progress tracking, and a usable free version. Definitely among the top five spelling apps for Android.

The free version of this app comes with three out of five games and is completely functional in that word lists can be created, games can be played and statistics are recorded. Really, you could get away with just having the free version but the full version is so cheap, and it will definitely pay for itself!
Gaming is a great way for children to learn and practice new skills. Spelling is a foundational skill that needs regular reinforcement. Having a parent go over spelling list words three times a week is less than exciting, so apps like Spelling Monster come into their own, giving parents a break and engaging the kids. Collecting letters, catching letters and popping letters to spell words is so much more fun than simply reeling off spelling words.
Internet is not required for this game so it can be played in the car on the way to school (for last minute revision before a test!) and the statistics provide useful information for parents wanting to know how much time has been spent doing spelling homework, and how accurate the spelling practice has been.
