BrainPop Jr. K-3 (best free Android apps for kids)

What a great find! I love the BrainPop app, so to find a junior version of it is just a bonus. Covering a variety of learning areas, Annie and Mobie present content in interesting and fun short videos to capture the attention of lower elementary aged students (ages 5-8). Six movies and one "movie of the week" are free. A fantastic resource for educators or homeschoolers and a brilliant app for anyone to have on their Android device.

Without paying for a subscription, your child can learn about Classifying Animals, Bullying, Nouns, U.S. Symbols, Tally Charts and Bar Graphs, and Internet Safety. After watching each video, there are two viewing comprehension quizzes, easy or hard, containing five questions. Scores for the quizzes are saved, with subsequent better scores replacing older poorer scores.

As a stand-alone app, BrainPop Jr. is worth getting for the variety of videos that come free. However, after viewing the quality of the videos and seeing all the other common core standard aligned resources available with a subscription, you will be very tempted to go all the way with this app.
