These Peanuts book apps are so precious! I just love how the original illustrations have been animated and made interactive. To top it off, this particular story is narrated by Stephen Shea who was the voice of Linus in the Peanuts cartoons. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving tells the story of Charlie and his friends as they prepare for the holiday celebrations. It all begins with Peppermint Patty inviting herself over to Charlie's house for Thanksgiving Dinner, but quickly gets out of hand as she continues inviting more and more people.

Loud Crow apps are excellently presented with fantastic audio, excellent interactive graphics and no ads. This app, like the It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown app, has a unique page turning action. The story text, mostly dialogue between the characters, is presented one character at a time, and is swiped off the screen by dragging a finger along the ribbon at the bottom of the page. The text also has the tap-to-read feature so children can associate individual written words with their spoken counterparts. A great feature for emergent readers. The illustrations have limited animation when tapped, more like a pop-up book and every scene has a hidden leaf to be discovered by the reader.
Just as gatherings like Thanksgiving Dinner emphasize fractious relationships in families, so too it exaggerates friends' personalities, causing interesting interactions. Charlie Brown is fortunate to have his loyal dog Snoopy who never seems to judge or cause a fuss, and is always there to help. The message of this story, about being thankful for family, friends and food, comes across very clearly and is one that can be reinforced at any time of the year. Definitely a classic, and definitely part of Thanksgiving traditions, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is a must download.
