The mini-games work on word families — that is, words that rhyme — by engaging the child in matching type of activities. The free version comes with the vowel A and 13 word families associated with that. The first mini-game requires the child to match pictures with the corresponding words. The second requires the child to match the image that Bud is thinking of with one of a choice of six rhyming images. The final mini-game requires the child to help Bud swim to the rhyming words of the word shown at the top of the screen. Verbal feedback rewards the student with praise when the correct word is chosen, and with encouragement to try again when the incorrect word is chosen.
With so much offered in this free version, you will be wondering how you managed without it.
