Motion Math: Hungry Fish (best Android apps for kids)
Motion Math: Hungry Fish (best Android apps for kids)

Motion Math: Hungry Fish is an early numeracy app that presents basic math in a new way. A hungry fish is swimming around, waiting to be fed bubbles with numbers in them. Only the bubbles with the number matching the number on the fish will be eaten, however. The visual presentation of math in this way is a good attempt at making math less abstract and more concrete.

This app is great for a wide range of abilities, from young children who are just beginning simple math operations, to middle schoolers working at a much higher level. Addition of numbers requires the player to join two or more bubbles together to match the number on the fish. Likewise, subtraction requires the joining of positive and negative bubbles until the desired number is reached. As the fish eats the bubbles, it grows larger and larger until the maximum size is reached and that particular level is over.
It is a timed game, so if correct bubbles are not fed to the fish, the fish will keep shrinking until the minimum size is reached and that level is lost. As the player completes levels, bonuses are awarded allowing the fish to be customized. Progress tracking shows the scores accumulated for the different sections and the level reached in each section. The bonus about this app is that the difficulty can be set from really basic single digit math operations, with a long time limit, to more difficult double digit operations and a very short time limit.
A very well presented app with NO ads or in-app purchases that will help your child with their core mental math skills.
